The Eve's End: He's not technically a devil, but he is in the details.
Let's chat! Us readers and writers "live" in different times, eras, and worlds all the time. But which one would you *actually* want to live in? Here's the rules: fiction or non-fiction answers are allowed, you can choose to be either a male or female (as it applies), BUT you have to maintain your current socio-economic status which you currently have right now.
Lyrical Monday! Pairing songs with character journeys. Today we look at Henri Meyer, newcomer to the Gift story and victim of just wanting to do the best thing. Henri's journey is the least linear of all the characters in "The Eve's End" so picking just one song for Henri was hard. I decided on this song "Hymn for the Missing" by the band Red as it describes the loss of someone close to you to forces beyond your control, and the desire to try and reach that person and get them back from what is controlling them. For Henri, he's become lost to Nefas, but can he find his way back to life from death? This is Henri's journey, his fight against Nefas and the Gift. This song is really beautiful so check out my Stories where you can hear a clip of the song, and check out the link in my bio to read a free preview of "The Eve's End" and read for yourself how, with the best intentions, Henri becomes lost to a force greater than himself.
From one artist to another, I am loving this moody photo that incredible visual artist and musician @deborahcaitlinn took of "The Eve's End". Thank you!
Let's chat! If there's one literary trend which has freed and inspired generations of girls, women, and men perhaps more than any other to value what girls and women can bring to the table, it's the strong female lead character trend (is "trend" even the right word?) There's so many to choose from going back as far as we can think of. Clytemnestra from Greek mythology, who, even though she was written of as a villain, she was strong to dare to defy the standard gender norms of her day. Jane Austin brought a new generation of strong minded-and not evil- women to the page, and today they are everywhere! In all genres and in all shapes and sizes, as they say. So tell me, who are some of your favorite strong women characters?
Lyrical Monday returns! Continuing the exploration of some of the music that best expresses the struggle of my characters in my supernatural thriller "The Eve's End", we again return to Fae. At the start of the story we get a quick insight into her journey in the years after the events of "The Gift" where she picked up a dark and haunting shadow of a creature named Nefas. Nefas is always with her, reminding her of their dark past together, of her helplessness against him, and the inevitability of resisting him, temping her with dark addictions and passions she wants nothing to do with but struggles so hard against...Nefas knows what she wants. This song by the band Red captures her struggle so well: "...enticing me with all that I hate... I'm suffering, I want you erased... I can't replace this addiction in my head. Run, run, I can't escape."
